Holly Hunter is an American producer and actress who has been recognized for her highly laudable performance in movies such as Broadcast News The Firm The Piano and The Incredibles. The movie Piano has won several awards for her including an Oscar. Her acting career began with Broadway through a myriad of Broadway and Off Broadway initiatives. From her early years she's always been enthusiastic in the field of acting. She portrayed Helen Keller as a fifth-grade pupil in a school performance. The mumps that she contracted left her blind and deaf in the one ear, but she did not allow this to stop her from becoming an actress. In her teens, Hunter studied drama and eventually moved into New York City. Hunter had her Broadway debut due to an accidental encounter and Beth Henley, a playwright. Together, they wrote for Broadway Crimes of the Heart. Following her move from Los Angeles she tried to obtain film roles and was offered the role of a co-star on Swing Shift. In the three decades since then Holly Hunter has been involved in numerous television movies and series. Holly Hunter received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and she also received her the Women in Film Lucy Award.
